FIKKIA Student Earns Best Group Award at International Conference Santri Mendunia

Sheema Hunafa Qudsi, a student from the Faculty of Health, Medicine, and Life Sciences at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), has been awarded the Top Best Group honor at the International Conference Santri Mendunia (ICSM). The conference took place on March 2, 2026, across Malaysia, Singapore, and Thailand, and aimed to facilitate discussions and collaborations among Islamic students from Indonesia.

Conference Theme and Objectives

The theme of the ICSM, “Santri Collaboration in Building a Global Sharia Economic Ecosystem,” sought to enhance the involvement of young Muslims in developing an internationally recognized sharia-based economy.

Qudsi’s Participation

During the event, Qudsi engaged in a variety of academic activities, including presenting scientific papers and participating in panel discussions. Her team focused on the importance of collaboration among different stakeholders, such as academics, industry experts, and young santri, to establish a cohesive and inclusive sharia economic ecosystem. They particularly highlighted the need for research and innovation to align with global market requirements.

The Role of Youth in Sharia Economy

Qudsi emphasized the crucial role of collaboration across sectors and countries in developing the sharia economy, stating that young people, particularly santri, are essential in driving these changes through integrity and innovation. She noted that enhancing sharia economic literacy among youth is vital for improving their global competitiveness.

Digitalization and Market Access

The conference also highlighted the significance of digitalization in broadening market access and encouraged the adoption of sharia financial technology, halal marketplaces, and the incorporation of halal certification data as strategic measures for global outreach.

Qudsi expressed appreciation for the opportunity to represent UNAIR on this international stage and acknowledged the valuable insights gained concerning cross-cultural collaboration and its impact on reinforcing Islamic values within the global community.
