Chung-Ang University Launches New Semester with ESG Management Initiatives

Chung-Ang University commenced its new semester on March 6, 2026, by launching an environmental cleanup initiative as part of its commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) management. The event featured participation from President Park Se-hyun, members of the presidential leadership team, key administrators, and faculty and staff volunteers. A significant number of students took part, organized by the student council president, highlighting the community aspect of the initiative.
Campus Cleanup Activities
Participants engaged in cleanup activities across the campus, focusing on local pathways for approximately one hour beginning at 11 a.m. Cleanup efforts also extended to surrounding areas, including the Startup Forest Plaza located at the rear gate of the university. This initiative underscores the implementation of ESG principles and the institution’s plan for social responsibility.
Leadership’s Commitment
President Park noted the significance of collective engagement among faculty and staff in enhancing the campus environment and adhering to ESG values as the new semester begins. He expressed a desire for ongoing collaboration from all members of the Chung-Ang University community to foster sustainable management practices and cultivate an optimal educational environment.
Collaborative Efforts for Improvement
Park Ki-seok, Head of General Affairs and the event organizer, stressed the importance of these collaborative efforts at the onset of the semester, aiming to improve conditions for education and research.
Broader ESG Initiatives
Additionally, Chung-Ang University has undertaken a range of initiatives to promote ESG management. These include the introduction of robotic vacuum cleaners in university facilities, organizing flea market booths to facilitate recycling during events, and a continuous commitment to environmental cleanup activities on campus and within neighboring areas. The university has received recognition for its sustainable practices, ranking first in the 2024 Climate Crisis Response Universities by the Climate Change Center, and being awarded the 2025 ESG Management Award from the University News Network.
