University of Asia Pacific – Department of Pharmacy: Excellence in Pharmaceutical Education and Research

The Department of Pharmacy at the University of Asia Pacific (UAP) has reported several significant developments within its academic framework. Recently, two faculty members received promotions: Professor Dr. Shahriar has been appointed Dean of the School of Pharmacy, and Professor Zabun Nahar has taken on the role of Head of the Department of Pharmacy. These appointments are attributed to their contributions to academic leadership and the advancement of the pharmacy program at UAP.

Inauguration of Computational Biology Lab

On January 1, 2026, the department held an inauguration ceremony for its newly established Computational Biology Lab. The ceremony was attended by various university leaders, including Vice Chancellor Professor Dr. Qumrul Ahsan, who noted the lab’s prospective role in enhancing research capabilities and promoting interdisciplinary studies in computational and biological sciences. The lab aims to focus on multiple areas such as bioinformatics, drug discovery, and molecular modeling.

Academic Visit to Malaysian Universities

Additionally, a delegation from UAP undertook an academic visit to several notable Malaysian universities on November 24-25, 2025. The purpose of this visit was to promote collaboration in pharmaceutical and medical sciences, with discussions centered around joint research initiatives, staff exchanges, and collaborative academic programs.

Participation in ICDDTM Conference

Furthermore, UAP participated in the International Conference on Drug Discovery, Development, and Translational Medicine (ICDDTM) that took place from November 25-28, 2025. This event illustrated UAP’s active engagement within the global research community and emphasized its role in international academic discourse.

These developments reflect UAP’s dedication to enhancing pharmaceutical education and research innovation, as well as its efforts to cultivate global academic partnerships.
