International Students from Phoenix School Shine at Guangdong’s 2025 Talent Show
On December 30, the “2025 Talent Show of International Students in Guangdong” was held at the Guangzhou International Campus of South China University of Technology. Organized by the Guangdong Provincial Department of Education, the event featured participation from faculty and student representatives from 14 universities across Guangdong, with a focus on showcasing achievements in international education and fostering cross-cultural exchanges.
Performance by International Students
International students from the Phoenix School of Beijing Normal University at Zhuhai (BNU Zhuhai) presented a performance titled “Ascending the Spring Mountain.” This presentation combined choral singing and traditional dance, emphasizing the participants’ engagement with Chinese culture through artistic expression. The performance included 21 international students from 11 countries, alongside five Chinese students from BNU Zhuhai. Following multiple rounds of review, this piece was selected, demonstrating the institution’s commitment to cultural integration and arts education for international students. The program featured bilingual lyrics in both Chinese and English, as well as choreography inspired by traditional Chinese dance.
Preparation and Rehearsals
Upon confirmation of their performance, the students undertook rigorous rehearsals, concentrating on pronunciation and rhythm using a bilingual songbook. They also practiced basic movements and expressive techniques characteristic of classical Chinese dance. This collaborative effort contributed to their teamwork and cross-cultural communication skills.
Final Rehearsal and Performance
The team conducted a full rehearsal on the afternoon of December 29 at the Guangzhou International Campus, fine-tuning details in preparation for the formal performance later that evening. Adorned in costumes that blended traditional and contemporary styles, the students delivered a coordinated vocal and dance presentation, which garnered positive feedback from the audience.
Impact of the Talent Show
The talent show functioned as a venue for educational presentations and cultural interaction, allowing international students from the Phoenix School to showcase their involvement in campus life and cultural activities during their time in Guangdong.
