Swinburne Sarawak’s Industry X Day 2025: A Showcase of Creativity and Innovation

On December 4, 2025, Swinburne University of Technology’s Sarawak Campus hosted the inaugural Industry X Day 2025. This event was designed to showcase student capabilities and to promote collaboration between students and industry leaders, bringing together students, industry professionals, alumni, and members of the public.

Focus on Achievements

Industry X Day 2025 focused on the achievements of the university’s Faculty of Business, Design, and Arts, particularly highlighting work from the School of Design and Arts. Student projects were displayed across various disciplines, including Multimedia Design, Graphic Design, Digital Media Design, and innovative creative technologies. The exhibition featured portfolios, interactive demonstrations, and industry-ready projects that incorporated visual communication, UX/UI, motion graphics, and immersive storytelling, utilizing technologies such as Augmented Reality (AR), Virtual Reality (VR), and Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Opening Remarks

Professor Dr. Brian Wong Kee Mun, Dean of the Faculty of Business, Design, and Arts, provided opening remarks at the event. YB Datuk Snowdan Lawan, the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts, officiated the launch and participated in a guided tour of the student exhibition.

Industry-Linked Education Model

Associate Professor Dr. Predrag K Nikolic, Head of the School of Design and Arts, highlighted the shift from industry-driven learning to an industry-linked education model. He stated that Industry X Day serves as a platform for students to engage with industry leaders and build connections that may assist in their career development.

Jasmine Ng, Chair of Industry X Day 2025, emphasized the importance of the event for graduating students, expressing pride in their educational journeys and encouraging all design students to pursue ongoing education and exploration.
