PolyU Launches “HONG KONG FASYNATES 2025: Fashion x Sports” – A Celebration of Fashion, Sports, and Urban Culture

The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) recently organized the “HONG KONG FASYNATES 2025: Fashion x Sports” event at the Central Square of Kai Tak Sports Park, which occurred from November 22 to 23. This event was a significant showcase blending fashion and sports, coordinated by the School of Fashion and Textiles (SFT), the Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME), and the Research Institute for Sports Science and Technology (RISports).
Event Theme and Collaborations
The theme “Fashion x Sports” highlighted collaborations among industry leaders, brands, and creative professionals, with the aim of fostering a vibrant cultural ecosystem through a variety of activities.
Opening Day Highlights
The opening day featured a digital illumination show titled “Move to Light,” designed by prominent lighting designer and Outstanding PolyU Alumni Award recipient, Tino Kwan. Dignitaries, including Rosanna Law, Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism of the HKSAR Government, and other PolyU officials, officiated the ceremony, which included the activation of the illumination installation, symbolizing the integration of fashion and technology in Hong Kong.
Remarks on Sportswear and Culture
In her address, Miss Law underscored the growing importance of sportswear in daily life and its role in fashion culture within Hong Kong. She remarked that the event illustrated the potential of interdisciplinary collaborations and reflected the government’s commitment to promoting innovation in culture, sports, and tourism.
Fashion Show and Performances
Additionally, the event featured a fashion show highlighting collections from five SFT alumni, showcasing themes related to car racing, running, fitness, street dance, and outdoor activities. This display highlighted the fusion of casual wear, streetwear, and performance apparel. The opening was capped with a performance by the All Hong Kong Skateboarders Association, which demonstrated the relationship between athletic performance and artistic expression.
Bazaar Events and Activities
On November 23, the “HONG KONG FASYNATES Bazaar” took place, presenting a marketplace with sixteen lifestyle and fashion brands. The bazaar included interactive workshops focused on urban sports, creative styling, and beauty techniques, concluding with performances by local dance and rope skipping groups.
