LPA 2025: Enhancing Global Dialogue on Responsible Innovation and Safety Culture

The International Conference on Loss Prevention Asia (LPA) 2025 took place from October 7 to 9, 2025, at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The conference aimed to enhance discussions surrounding process safety, risk management, and responsible innovation. It attracted around 800 registered delegates and presenters, who contributed 163 technical papers, indicating a growing commitment to foster a culture of loss prevention through data-driven and technology-enabled approaches.
Exhibition and Collaboration
The exhibition segment of the event also saw notable participation from major industry players, who presented innovative solutions related to process safety, digital monitoring, and risk mitigation. This setting facilitated collaboration and knowledge exchange among academia, industry stakeholders, and regulatory bodies.
Insights from the Chairperson
Prof. Ts. Dr. Shahrina Md Nordin, Chairperson of LPA 2025, commented on the event’s increased engagement, highlighting a shift in focus from compliance to innovation and shared accountability in safety practices. According to Dr. Nordin, modern loss prevention strategies are centered on utilizing data, technology, and teamwork to proactively identify and mitigate risks, positioning safety as a pathway for progress rather than a hindrance.
Public Engagement Growth
The conference also noted a significant rise in public engagement, with a total of 1,288 attendees, including 491 walk-in visitors, marking an important advancement in the promotion of safety as a critical societal value.

Organized by the Centre of Advanced Process Safety (CAPS) at Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS, the Institute of Smart and Sustainable Living (ISSL), and PETRONAS Projects, Technology & Health, Safety, Security & Environment (PT&HSSE), the event was supported strategically by partners such as PETRONAS, Shell, PTTEP, ConocoPhillips, and TotalEnergies.
