Bridging Education and Japanese Businesses: Expanding Opportunities for Lac Hong University Students

On August 5, 2025, a delegation from Hyogo Prefecture, Japan, led by Vice Governor Hattori Yohei, visited the headquarters of the Dong Nai Provincial People’s Committee. The meeting included representatives from provincial departments, universities, and local businesses, with the aim of promoting Japanese investment in Dong Nai, which is currently the province’s third-largest foreign investor.

Educational Collaboration and Achievements

Lac Hong University (LHU), identified as a prominent educational institution in the province, was represented by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Vu Quynh, Vice Rector, who addressed the attendees regarding the university’s academic achievements and collaborations with Japanese enterprises.

LHU has built a reputation as a desirable source of graduates for Japanese employers, largely due to its extensive experience in Japanese language education and various technology-engineering disciplines. The university has developed specialized training programs, such as Bilingual Vietnamese-Japanese and Vietnamese-Japanese Engineer, across fields including Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering, and Food Technology. This combination of technical knowledge and language proficiency equips students for the global labor market.

Internship Programs and Student Feedback

Annually, LHU facilitates internships in Japan for approximately 100 students, providing them with practical experience and professional training that enhances their employability upon graduation. Feedback from Japanese businesses indicates a positive assessment of LHU students, highlighting their discipline and eagerness to learn, often resulting in job offers during internships. This feedback underscores the alignment of the university’s training outcomes with industry requirements.

Bridging Graduates and Employers

In addition to academic instruction, LHU functions as a key link between qualified graduates and Japanese employers. The university participates actively in the Coordination Committee that connects Japanese businesses and local suppliers, organizing events such as the Japan Job Fair and career seminars. These initiatives focus on essential industry standards and soft skills vital in Japanese workplaces, contributing to the attractiveness of LHU students as candidates for employment.

Innovations and Recognitions

The university has also achieved significant recognition in technological innovation, with successes including multiple championships at the Vietnam Robot Innovation Contest and leading performances at the Shell Eco-marathon Asia. Such achievements demonstrate LHU’s commitment to high-quality technical education, teamwork, and innovation, qualities valued in the Japanese corporate environment.

Strengthening Diplomatic Relations

The Hyogo delegation’s recent visit serves as a platform for enhancing diplomatic relations and establishing long-term collaboration between Dong Nai and Japan. With the backing of provincial authorities and organizations such as JICA, opportunities for students to develop their skills and engage with international markets are expected to grow.

Advancing Vietnamese Higher Education

Lac Hong University’s initiative to connect with Japanese businesses reinforces its role in advancing Vietnamese higher education and preparing students for a competitive global workforce. The university continues to illustrate its effectiveness in cultivating technically skilled graduates prepared for integration into the global labor market.
