UNAIR Rector Participates in 2025 Indonesian Science and Technology Convention in Bandung

The Rector of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, S.E., M.Si., M.Fin., participated in the 2025 Indonesian Science and Technology Convention (KSTI), which took place on August 7, 2025, at the Bandung Institute of Technology’s Sasana Budaya Ganesa. His involvement is indicative of an ongoing commitment to advancing research and innovation through collaborations among universities, industry stakeholders, and government entities.

Event Overview

Organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, this year’s convention centered on the theme “Science and Technology for Economic Growth and Equity.” The keynote address was presented by Indonesia’s President, Prabowo Subianto. The event attracted over 1,000 researchers, including 58 representatives from UNAIR.

Attendees included several members of Indonesia’s Red and White Cabinet, comprising ministers from various sectors such as Economy, Energy, Mineral Resources, and Health, among other distinguished officials. The convention featured a technology exhibition and a series of workshops designed to promote partnerships aimed at facilitating the implementation of research findings for national development.

Strategic Focus Areas

KSTI was designed as both a national and international platform to promote Indonesia’s advancement through the application of science and technology. The convention highlighted the importance of integrating research with higher education and industry across eight strategic sectors: food, energy, health, defense, maritime, downstream processing and industrialization, digitalization, and advanced materials and manufacturing. These sectors were selected for their vital contributions to enhancing Indonesia’s technological advancement and global competitiveness.

Prof. Madyan’s presence at KSTI 2025 reinforced UNAIR’s role as a leader in scientific and technological progress within Indonesia. By leading the university’s delegation, he emphasized the institution’s commitment to broadening collaboration networks and actively participating in the nation’s research ecosystem. This involvement reflects UNAIR’s focus not only on education but also on fostering technological innovation essential for the country’s growth.
