MFU International Workshop on Joint Curricula for Sustainable Global Mobility

Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) recently conducted the International Workshop on Joint & Co-Curricular Development, aimed at enhancing global mobility, from July 21 to 22, 2025, at Le Méridien Chiang Rai Resort. This workshop was part of the MFU Reinventing University 2025 initiative.

Workshop Overview

The event provided a forum for curriculum coordinators from over 12 institutions across seven countries to engage in discussions focused on developing joint curricula and co-curricular activities. The goal was to promote international graduate competencies and advance sustainable mobility for both students and academic staff.

Opening Remarks

The workshop commenced with remarks from Prof. Dr. Sujitra Wongkasemjitt, Vice President of MFU, and a welcoming address by Asst. Prof. Dr. Sutthiwal Setha, Dean of the School of Agro-Industry. Professor Dr. Saroj Rodkhum, Head of the Reinventing University Project, provided an overview of the initiative.

Memorandum of Agreement

A significant highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between MFU and two Indonesian institutions, IPB University and Universitas Brawijaya. Also, Letters of Intent (LoIs) were signed with several international partners to establish future joint academic programs.

Expert Contributions

Experts from various regions, including Europe, Asia, and the ASEAN community, contributed to the workshop by delivering keynote presentations and participating in discussions. Notable speakers included Prof. Dr. Pascal Degraeve from Université Lyon 1, Prof. Dr. Michiko Takagaki from Japan, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Young Hoon Jung from South Korea, as well as representatives from institutions in Indonesia and Vietnam.

Regulatory Discussions

Representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI) also participated in discussions regarding regulatory frameworks and best practices for international academic collaboration.

Collaboration Sessions

The second day of the workshop featured brainstorming and group work sessions, where participants collaboratively developed undergraduate and postgraduate curricula. Proposed programs were presented in a plenary session, allowing for feedback from academic experts to refine future implementation plans.

Conclusion

The workshop, which received support from several divisions within MFU, indicates a significant step forward in the university’s internationalization efforts. This initiative underscores a commitment to modern and flexible education strategies designed to address the challenges of the 21st century.
