5 Collectives and 11 Individuals Recognized with Exemplary Achievement Titles for 2020-2025 at International University

On July 14, 2025, International University (VNU-HCM) hosted the 2020–2025 Exemplary Role Model Conference to acknowledge exceptional individuals and collectives for their significant contributions over the past five years. The university recognized five collectives and eleven individuals for their dedication and achievements during this period.
Achievements from 2020 to 2025
The years 2020 to 2025 were characterized by extensive innovation and notable accomplishments within the university community. This progress was attributed to the commitment and creativity of the university’s staff and employees, who faced various challenges while striving for excellence. The initiatives and successes highlighted the collaborative efforts of faculty members in fulfilling their responsibilities.
Key Initiatives Undertaken
Key initiatives undertaken during this period included national campaigns aimed at enhancing rural development, supporting impoverished communities, promoting workplace civility, reducing waste, and fostering a learning society that advances lifelong education and innovation in teaching and learning.
Significant Milestones Achieved
Throughout the 2020–2025 timeframe, International University achieved numerous significant milestones, which reflected the dedication, creativity, and sense of responsibility demonstrated by its faculty, staff, students, and broader educational community. The university earned both national and departmental awards, reinforcing its reputation within Vietnam’s higher education sector.
Honors and Recognition
Among the honors received were several prestigious emulation awards, such as the title of Excellent Labor Collective for the academic years 2020–2021 and 2021–2022. The Ministry of Education and Training recognized the university with an Emulation Flag for the 2021–2022 academic year. Additionally, recognition was granted by the Director of Ho Chi Minh City Police for the university’s contributions to the All-People’s National Security Protection movement in 2022 and 2023. Notably, both a collective and an individual received a Certificate of Merit from the Prime Minister, which complemented other recognitions including the Vietnam Women’s Award.
Emulation Flags and Certificates of Merit
On ministerial and provincial levels, an Emulation Flag was awarded by the Ministry of Education and Training on three occasions, and a total of 59 collectives were acknowledged as Excellent Labor Collectives. Eleven individuals received recognition as Ministerial-Level Emulation Role Models, accompanied by 137 Certificates of Merit awarded at the ministerial level to 23 collectives and 114 individuals. At the VNU-HCM level, one individual was named Lecturer of the Year, while another was recognized as Professional Staff of the Year.
Presentations at the Conference
The conference included presentations from recognized collectives and individuals, featuring Assoc. Prof. Vòng Bính Long, Head of the Office of Quality Assurance and Accreditation, who discussed the significance of effective accreditation practices in enhancing educational quality. He addressed ongoing challenges such as limited stakeholder engagement, inadequate facilities, and barriers to the internationalization of programs, and expressed a commitment to resolving these issues to further improve education quality.
Contributions of Female Scientists
Dr. Hà Thị Thanh Hương, also acknowledged during the conference, discussed the contributions and challenges encountered by female scientists in academia, emphasizing the necessity for supportive policies that promote their advancement and leadership within educational and research contexts.
Closing Remarks
The event concluded with a call from the rector for faculty and staff to embrace a spirit of dedication and progress as they prepare for the next patriotic emulation period spanning 2025 to 2030.
