UiTM Partners with Emerson to Enhance Innovation and Talent Development

Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and NI Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., a subsidiary of Emerson, have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration between academia and industry. The signing ceremony took place on June 30, 2025, at UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang, attended by officials from both organizations.
Delegation Details
The delegation from NI Malaysia included Mrs. Noor Azian Abdull Wahab, Chief Community Impact & STEM, and Mr. Tan Jie Sheen, STEM Program Lead. Representing UiTM were Prof. Dato’ Ir. Dr. Haji Ahmad Rashidy Razali, Rector of UiTM Penang Branch; YBrs. Dr. Ahmad Asri Abd Samat, Deputy Rector of Student Affairs; and Assoc. Prof. Ir. Dr. Alhan Farhanah, Head of Centre, Electrical Engineering Studies.
Expansion of Partnership
This agreement expands upon a previous Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) signed in August 2024, which facilitated the creation of the RM400,000 NI Embedded System Lab. The new MoU broadens the scope of partnership to encompass joint research, publications, institutional exchanges, and improvements in teaching methodologies. The initiative aims to promote knowledge sharing and connect academic strengths with industry needs.
Global Project-Based Learning
A key component of the partnership is the continuation of the Global Project-Based Learning (gPBL) program, which provides UiTM students and staff with opportunities to collaborate on real-world projects with international peers and industry professionals. The program is intended to enhance students’ technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and cross-cultural competencies, preparing them for the global workforce.
