Celebrating Young Innovators at the STACK 2025 RCC Prize Presentation Ceremony | Universiti Teknologi Brunei

On June 25, 2025, Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB) hosted the STACK 2025 Prize Presentation and Appreciation Ceremony at An-Naura Hall, Yayasan Complex. The event recognized the achievements of students involved in the Robotic and Coding Conquest (RCC2025) competition, held as part of Brunei Darussalam’s Annual Mid-Year Conference and Exhibition (MYCE) 2025. This initiative was organized in collaboration with Cyber Security Brunei (CSB).
Honorable Guests and Ceremony Highlights
The ceremony was officiated by the Guest of Honour, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Nazmi bin Haji Awang Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and Acting Minister of Transport and Infocommunications. Attendees included Yang Mulia Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Sufian bin Haji Sabtu, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (Security and Law). The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Yang Mulia Ustaz Khairul Ariffin bin Haji Yussof, followed by remarks from Yang Mulia Tuan Shamsul Bahri bin Haji Khamis, Interim Commissioner of Cyber Security Brunei.
About RCC2025
In its fifth iteration, RCC2025 aims to encourage students to develop innovative solutions utilizing artificial intelligence (AI), robotics, and the Internet of Things (IoT). The competition aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and supports Brunei’s national innovation strategy, Wawasan Brunei 2035. This year, participation broadened to include local and international individuals aged 13 to 30.
Awards for AI IoT Hackathon
Awards for the AI IoT Hackathon (Local Category) included:
- 1st Place: AI-Powered Beach Cleaning Robot by Awang Muhammad Mahran Bin Dr. Haji Awang Makarimi
- 2nd Place: IoT-enabled Soft Hand Exoskeleton for Stroke Rehabilitation (REHANDI) by Awg Md Sallehudin Bin Awg Md Salishaknizam
- 3rd Place: Search and Rescue Drone by Mohamad Hafizh Hamizan Bin Haji Asmali, Therresia Citta Binti Zaimi, and Ahmad Tarmizi Bin Haji Khalid
In the AI IoT Hackathon (International Category), the champions were from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia with their project “CliniQless AI: Improving Access to Diagnosis in Remote Areas.”
Awards for Junior Competitions
Awards in the Junior IoT SDG Challenge (ages 14-17) included:
- 1st Place: Nor Nasibah Adhwa @ Hannah Bte Awang Azman (SUAMRIPAS) – BND 400
- 2nd Place: Muhammad Wazien Bin Haji Wahid (Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah) – BND 270
- 3rd Place: Ahmad Hariz Azhar Bin Saiful Rizal Abdullah Mutalip (SMSMJA) – BND 180
In the Junior Robotics SDG Challenge (ages 14-17), awards were presented as follows:
- 1st Place: TEAM CHAOTIC BOT – BND 400
- 2nd Place: TEAM TINYTECH – BND 270
- 3rd Place: TEAM ROBONIX – BND 180
Participants from UTB’s STEM Program
Participants from UTB’s STEM Adopt-a-School Programme represented various secondary institutions, including Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun (SMAS), Sekolah Menengah Jamalul Alam (SMJA), Sekolah Arab Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, and Sekolah Ugama Arab Menengah Perempuan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha (SUAMRIPAS).
Recognition of Innovative Capabilities
The ceremony also acknowledged winners of the Building Intelligent Machine (BIM) 2025 and the Microsoft ASEAN AI Accessibility Hackathon, reflecting the innovative capabilities of the participants.

The event highlighted the dedication of young innovators in Brunei to further sustainable development through creativity and technical expertise. The RCC2025 program included various activities leading up to the awards ceremony, promoting engagement in innovation-focused education and development.
