Manahil Asad Triumphs at Malaysian National Powerlifting Championship – University of Nottingham Malaysia

Manahil Asad of the University of Nottingham Malaysia has achieved victory at the Malaysian National Powerlifting Championship, securing first place in the Junior Under 57kg category. The event, organized by the Malaysian Association of Powerlifting and sanctioned by the International Powerlifting Federation, was held at Kuash Theatre in TTDI and received support from the Ministry of Youth and Sports Malaysia. The championship featured over 150 competitors, including students and professionals, establishing it as a key event in Malaysia’s strength sports scene.
Breaking Stereotypes and Leading Representation
As one of the few female participants in her category, Manahil’s accomplishment highlights her representation of women and international students on a national level, while also challenging traditional stereotypes associated with strength sports.
Intensive Preparation
Preparation for the championship involved an intensive training regimen spanning four to five months. This included strength workouts, mobility exercises, and dietary management, all managed alongside her academic commitments in Business Economics and Management, as well as her role as the Sports Officer of the UNM Students’ Association.
Aspiring for International Competitions
Looking ahead, Manahil aims to qualify for international competitions and is dedicated to encouraging greater female participation in strength sports.

The University of Nottingham Malaysia recognized Manahil’s achievement, noting that dedication, hard work, and perseverance can lead to success in both academic and athletic endeavors.
