HUST Engages at the China-Russia University Presidents’ Forum 2025

Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) took part in the 6th Annual Conference of the Association of Sino-Russian Technical Universities (ASRTU) and the China-Russia University Presidents’ Forum held in Moscow from May 26 to 30. Xie Zhengxue, Vice Chair of the University Committee of HUST, delivered a keynote speech titled “Driving Higher Education Transformation and Innovation with Artificial Intelligence,” focusing on HUST’s progress in digital education and smart education initiatives.

Innovative Methodologies and Collaboration in Higher Education

In his remarks, Xie highlighted the university’s innovative methodologies in interdisciplinary research, development of artificial intelligence (AI) curricula, smart campus initiatives, and the alignment of higher education with industry needs. He emphasized the importance of education in fostering future talent and the significant role of higher education in advancing technology. He called for global higher education institutions to collaborate in creating frameworks for international digital education cooperation, which would facilitate the sharing of high-quality resources and the establishment of global standards for the cultivation of innovative talent.

Participation of Leading Institutions

The forum gathered nearly 50 universities from China and Russia, including prominent institutions such as ITMO University and Harbin Institute of Technology. Discussions at the event centered around topics like “Building World-Class Universities” and “Digital Transformation and AI-Driven Innovation in Higher Education.”

Highlighting HUST’s Achievements

Alongside the keynote address, Xie Zhengxue also presented HUST’s accomplishments in developing world-class academic disciplines and promoting technological innovation. He invited academic exchanges with participating institutions and welcomed Russian scholars and students to engage in research and studies at HUST.

Collaboration Opportunities with Russian Universities

Representatives from HUST’s Office of International Affairs participated in related conference activities, including discussions on potential collaborations with leaders from various Russian universities, such as Ural Federal University and Admiral Makarov State University of Maritime and Inland Shipping.
