Kazakhstan IITU’s Historic Visit to Xi’an Jiaotong University: Strengthening Educational Ties
A delegation from the International Information Technology University (IITU) in Kazakhstan, led by Rector Assylbek Abdiashimovich Issakhov, conducted its inaugural official visit to Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) on March 10-11. This visit marks a significant advancement in academic collaboration between the two institutions.
Welcoming Ceremony and Overview of Educational Philosophy
During the engagement, XJTU President Zhang Liqun welcomed the IITU delegation and provided an overview of the university’s educational philosophy, along with its initiatives in industrial-education integration and international cooperation. During discussions focused on the digital economy, President Zhang proposed the establishment of joint talent training programs to enhance collaborative efforts.
Regular Exchange Mechanism Implementation
Both universities agreed to implement a regular exchange mechanism to facilitate faculty and student visits, aimed at strengthening the strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan.
Insights from IITU Rector
Rector Issakhov shared insights regarding IITU’s history and achievements, underlining the university’s influential role in Kazakhstan, particularly in Olympiad competitions and its contributions to the digital economy. He highlighted IITU’s dual-mentorship model and expressed interest in having XJTU professors serve as mentors to enhance research capabilities.
Campus Tour and Program Discussions
Furthermore, the IITU delegation toured XJTU’s Xingqing Campus and the Western China Science and Technology Innovation Harbor. Discussions also took place regarding potential exchange programs with the School of International Education and the School of Telecommunications.
IITU’s Accomplishments
Established on April 2, 2009, IITU has emerged as a leading institution in Central Asia for training information technology professionals. In 2019, it became the first Kazakhstan university to receive ASIIN international accreditation. That same year, IITU was ranked first nationally in disciplines such as “Information Systems” and “Electronic Journalism,” which enhanced its reputation in talent development in information security.
