Chula University Participates in Art Activity with Nanyang Polytechnic for Sustainable Design

Chulalongkorn University has entered into a collaboration with Nanyang Polytechnic in Singapore to advance sustainable design practices. The initiative, known as the “Sustainable Design from Vision to Action” project, aims to utilize design efforts to enhance development and raise environmental awareness. This partnership involves the Department of Decorative Arts at Chulalongkorn University and is aligned with the university’s Chula Zero Waste initiative and the Office of Art and Culture.
Project Overview
The initiative, supported by the Temasek Foundation’s Specialists’ Community Action & Leadership Exchange (SCALE) Programme, focuses on educating participants and creating prototype designs to address sustainability challenges relevant to the university environment. Planned activities include field research, educational workshops, prototype creation, and exhibitions.
Upcoming Events
Chulalongkorn University will host a series of events in Bangkok from March 30 to April 12, 2025, emphasizing sustainable practices within the design sector. Prior to this, from March 2 to 15, 2025, a group of 15 senior students from the university engaged in workshops in Singapore, a crucial step toward the advancement of the university’s ZERO WASTE project.
Collaboration and Future Plans
Additionally, in April 2025, students from Nanyang Polytechnic are scheduled to visit Chulalongkorn University for a two-week workshop aimed at evaluating the practical applications of the project’s outcomes. This collaboration reflects both institutions’ commitment to promoting sustainability through innovative design approaches.
