Jesselton University College Organized Blood Donation Drive by Queen Elizabeth Hospital Advances Community Health and SDGs

Kota Kinabalu, 10 March 2025 – In collaboration with Queen Elizabeth Hospital, a successful blood donation campaign was held today at the Jesselton University College (JUC) campus, attracting enthusiastic participation from students eager to contribute to a vital community cause.

 

The event, jointly organized by the university’s Student Affairs Department and medical professionals from Queen Elizabeth Hospital, aimed to address critical blood supply shortages and foster a culture of volunteerism and community service among the student body.

 

Students actively participated, demonstrating commendable community spirit and awareness about the importance of regular blood donations in saving lives. Medical professionals from Queen Elizabeth Hospital provided comprehensive guidance and ensured safe practices throughout the donation process.

 

This collaborative initiative directly supports Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3—Good Health and Well-being, by contributing significantly to the local blood supply, essential for medical emergencies, surgeries, and patient care.

 

The event concluded successfully, highlighting the university community’s commitment to social responsibility and underscoring its ongoing efforts to encourage civic-mindedness and humanitarian actions among students.

 

JUC expressed appreciation for the students’ commendable response and emphasized the critical role youth play in promoting health awareness within the broader community.
