IPB University Produces 1,254 Landscape Architects Enhancing Indonesia’s Landscape

National Architecture Day, which takes place on March 18, serves to highlight the significance of architecture in fostering sustainable environments. The Department of Landscape Architecture at IPB University has played a pivotal role in this sector within Indonesia. Since becoming an independent department in 2005, having previously been part of the Agricultural Cultivation program, the department has graduated a total of 1,254 landscape architects.

Unique Advantages of IPB University Graduates

Dr. Akhmad Arifin Hadi, Chairman of the Department of Landscape Architecture, noted that graduates from IPB University possess unique advantages stemming from their comprehensive understanding of plants and agriculture. He explained that the landscape architecture curriculum encompasses not only design skills but also critical knowledge related to plants, soil science, slope stability, pests and diseases, and natural resource mapping.

Dr. Akhmad further indicated that students engage in the study of agricultural and agro-tourism landscapes, equipping them with essential biological knowledge relevant to their field. The program aims to produce graduates who are prepared to contribute effectively in both national and international contexts.
