Transforming MSMEs through Graphic Design: The Inspiring Journey of Nauris, LPDP Awardee

Muhammad Nauris Firdaus Rofaudin, an awardee of the Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP) scholarship, is currently pursuing studies at the Faculty of Humanities at Universitas Airlangga. He highlights the importance of the LPDP scholarship, viewing it not only as financial support but also as a mechanism to identify individuals who are dedicated to making meaningful contributions to society.
Nauris’ Vision for National Progress
Nauris perceives the LPDP program as a way to find individuals who possess a clear vision and are committed to national progress rather than simply trying to alter their mindsets. His interest in graphic design originated during his time at an Islamic boarding school, where he recognized its potential as a communication tool. Building on his experience running a small business that focused on honey and herbal products, he aimed to understand how design and media can assist micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in modernizing their practices. Consequently, he chose to study Global Media Communication to improve the quality and effectiveness of design and media strategies for MSMEs.
Overcoming Challenges
Despite his academic pursuits, Nauris faced challenges, often feeling inadequate when comparing himself to peers whom he viewed as more academically gifted. He characterized himself as an average student and recognized the need for additional effort to succeed. Overcoming self-doubt and societal expectations proved to be a significant hurdle; however, he learned to appreciate his intrinsic self-worth rather than relying on external validation.
The Importance of Self-Perception
Nauris asserts that self-perception and confidence are crucial for overcoming perceived limitations. He expressed that aiming for modest goals might unfurl unexpected successes, stating, “If you aim for a grade of seven, you may find that you can achieve a nine.”
Meaningful Steps Towards Success
He emphasizes that commencing an academic or professional journey requires taking small, meaningful steps. He suggests that the journey itself is valuable, noting that as long as individuals remain on the correct path, they will create a positive impact. Furthermore, he points out that preparing for the LPDP scholarship involves more than just academic excellence; it also requires self-awareness and a recognition of the importance of societal contribution.
Conclusion
Overall, Nauris’ journey underscores the importance of perseverance, self-awareness, and the transformative potential of education. His experiences reflect a commitment to innovative practices and a dedication to making a difference in communities.
