“Xi’an Jiaotong University Professors Honored with 2024 China Youth Science and Technology Award”
Professors Li Gengfeng and Yang Guidong from Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) have been recognized with the 18th China Youth Science and Technology Award. The awards were announced during the plenary session of the 2024 World Young Scientist Summit, which took place on November 17 in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province.
About the China Youth Science and Technology Award
The China Youth Science and Technology Award, established in 1987, honors young scientists and technologists throughout China. The initiative, supported by prominent scientists including Qian Xuesen, aims to cultivate leadership among emerging talents in the academic and technological spheres. Recipients of the award are acknowledged for their substantial contributions to national economic development, social advancement, and scientific innovation. The awards are presented biennially, with a maximum of 100 winners selected in each session. Over the past three decades, approximately 1,700 young scientists have received this honor.
Professor Li Gengfeng
Professor Li Gengfeng, who obtained his PhD from XJTU in 2014, has served in various academic roles at the university and is currently the director of the Shaanxi Key Laboratory of Smart Grid. His research primarily focuses on power system planning, reliability assessment, and the integration of artificial intelligence in power systems.
Professor Yang Guidong
Professor Yang Guidong earned his PhD from China University of Petroleum (East China) in 2010 and joined XJTU in 2011. He currently holds the position of dean of the School of Chemical Engineering and Technology, specializing in the development of ammonia synthesis processes.
Academic Achievements
Both professors have received numerous awards at national and provincial levels and have each published over 100 research papers during their academic careers.
