9th Annual HUST & SKKU Graduate Student Workshop and Academic Conference Success Highlights
The 9th HUST & SKKU Bilateral Graduate Student Workshop and Annual Academic Conference took place on October 16, 2024, at Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) within the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering. This event, a collaborative effort between HUST and Sungkyunkwan University (SKKU), attracted over 200 faculty members and students who engaged in discussions related to significant research areas.
Opening Ceremony
The opening ceremony was held in the Zhuoming Lecture Hall, with key attendees including Chen Jie, Director of HUST’s Office of International Affairs; Zhu Jintao, Dean of the Office of Postgraduate Education; and Tan Bi’en, Dean of the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at HUST. The participation of various representatives from the School and the Dean of the School of Chemical Engineering at SKKU, Professor Lee Jun Yeob, marked the event’s significance.
Remarks from Key Attendees
During the ceremony, Chen Jie underscored the achievements in international exchange and collaboration between the two institutions, highlighting the commitment to enhancing the internationalization of higher education. Zhu Jintao recognized the innovative approaches taken by both universities in developing talent training systems and promoting international cooperation, encouraging students to pursue scientific learning and innovation within chemistry.
Lee Jun Yeob acknowledged the beneficial partnership between HUST and SKKU, expressing optimism for future cooperation, particularly regarding this bilateral exchange initiative. Tan Bi’en commented on the academic contributions made by both universities, emphasizing the importance of their collaborative efforts.
Academic Presentations
The conference included academic presentations that provided insights from various professors, fostering a productive environment for knowledge sharing among attendees. The program featured multiple sessions focused on biology, energy, and materials, where thirty postgraduate students showcased their research work, evaluated by judges from both universities.
Awards and Future Cooperation
The event concluded with Gu Yanlong and Lee Jun Yeob presenting awards to six outstanding postgraduate students in recognition of their excellent presentations and contributions. Both leaders expressed a commitment to strengthening future collaborations in academic exchanges and project initiatives, reflecting the successful outcomes of the conference that solidified the ongoing partnership between HUST and SKKU.
