The University of Tokyo hosted its 2024 Autumn Semester Matriculation Ceremony on October 1, 2024, at the Yasuda Auditorium. The ceremony began at 10:00 a.m. and featured a performance by the University of Tokyo Orchestra. Attendees included President Fujii Teruo, executive vice presidents, deans from various Graduate Schools and Faculties, and directors of University Institutes, all wearing academic gowns.
President’s Welcome Address
President Fujii welcomed the new students during his address, which was followed by remarks from Ohkoshi Shinichi, the dean of the Graduate School of Science. As part of the ceremony, two new students, Mr. WU Yuchen, a Doctoral student in the Graduate School of Information Science and Technology, and Ms. SUH Jian from the College of Arts and Sciences, took an oath on behalf of their peers.

The event was livestreamed, allowing those unable to attend, including new students and their families, to watch the proceedings. Recordings of the President’s address and Professor Ohkoshi’s remarks are available online for public access.
