NCKU and Delta Electronics Thailand Collaborate to Cultivate International Talent through Industry-Academia Partnership
NCKU and Delta Electronics Thailand recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) aimed at enhancing collaboration between industry and academia, with a focus on cultivating international talent. The MOU was formalized on June 2 at the History Museum located on NCKU’s Kuang-Fu Campus and included representatives from both organizations, such as Delta Electronics Thailand President Jackie Chang and Delta India Region President Cheng-Pin Lin.
Promoting International Talent Development
The partnership seeks to promote the training of international talents by equipping students with pertinent skills essential for their future careers. A key component of this initiative is the NCKU-Butterfly Program, which emphasizes collaboration with Southeast Asian nations.
NCKU’s Commitment to International Education
Dr. Fong-Chin Su, Executive Vice President at NCKU, acknowledged the participation of attendees and reiterated the university’s commitment to providing a diverse range of international courses. At present, NCKU hosts 104 international students from Thailand and has plans to offer scholarships and internships. The university also aims to establish international research centers in Thailand, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Opportunities for NCKU Students
Jackie Chang highlighted the significance of international talents in fostering sustainable growth for Delta Electronics Thailand and noted that the company will extend internship and job opportunities to NCKU students. Selected students will be able to intern in either Taiwan or Thailand during their summer and winter breaks.
Impact on Career Development
This collaboration is anticipated to enhance the skillsets of young professionals, thereby improving their career prospects and positively contributing to business development in Thailand. Mr. Twekiat Janprajak from the Thailand Trade and Economic Office commented that the partnership would assist students in gaining essential skills while strengthening the Taiwan-Thailand relationship. Additionally, Mr. Wei-Ming Hsu from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office indicated that the initiative aligns with Thailand’s “Thailand 4.0” economic policy, which aims to develop international business talent.
Building on Previous Agreements
The new MOU builds on a previous agreement signed between NCKU and Delta Electronics Thailand in December 2019, which laid the foundation for increased cooperation, including provisions for internships and scholarships for Thai students. The current MOU has expanded these offerings to include support for additional students’ internship expenses.
Future Development and Strategic Insights
Following the signing ceremony, Delta executives shared insights into the company’s strategic positioning within Southeast Asia and discussed potential employment opportunities for students. The NCKU-Butterfly Program continues to seek partnerships that align with Taiwan’s “New Southbound Policy,” developing initiatives that are beneficial to both students and industry partners.
