UTAR Launches World’s First OpenHarmony Technology Club Outside China

Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) has marked a significant milestone in digital innovation with the inauguration of the UTAR OpenHarmony Technology Club during the Inauguration Ceremony and Operating System Technology Forum held at its Kampar Campus on 1 July 2026.

The newly established club is recognized as the world’s first OpenHarmony Technology Club outside China, highlighting UTAR’s pioneering role in expanding the global OpenHarmony ecosystem. The initiative reflects the university’s strong commitment to advancing open-source technologies, fostering innovation, and nurturing future-ready talent in the field of operating systems and digital technologies.

The launch also strengthens UTAR’s position in global industry–academia collaboration, providing a platform for students and researchers to engage in open-source operating system development, community building, and applied research. Through these activities, the university aims to cultivate highly skilled professionals in artificial intelligence and operating system technologies to meet the evolving demands of the digital economy.

As the first overseas institution to establish such a club, UTAR continues to promote knowledge exchange and international collaboration, reinforcing its role as a key contributor to global technological advancement and innovation-driven education in Malaysia and beyond.
