Thammasat goes into Metaverse to establish a new ‘campus’ in the virtual world, Thammasat Metaverse Campus

Thammasat University in collaboration with Brandverse Company Limited organized a press conference to launch T-Verse: the first Thailand Multiverse Bridge Platform at Puey Ungphakorn Centenary Hall and Park, Thammasat University, Rangsit Campus.

Assoc. Prof. Gasinee Witoonchart, Rector of Thammasat University revealed that this cooperation between the private sector, the government, and educational institutions including over 52 organizations is the first big phenomenon in Thailand that has brought the world’s modern technology like “Metaverse” to develop and create a platform of networking, doing business, education, as well as various activities in the universe of T. -Verse, which will support the country’s advanced development while improving people’s quality of life

Assoc. Prof. Gasinee said that on the occasion of its 88th anniversary, Thammasat is preparing to open a fifth campus called “Thammasat Metaverse Campus” that will provide educational services to people in Thailand and around the world on the T-Verse platform, which will enable everyone to easily and quickly access the university’s knowledge, research, and innovations. Therefore, we sincerely hope that all parties will collaborate to initiate this platform in order to jointly benefit and to develop the potential of everyone.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surat Teerakapiban, Vice Rector for Tha Prachan Campus Administration and International Affairs and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Thammasat Metaverse said that currently, Thammasat has 4 campuses: Tha Prachan, Rangsit, Lampang and Pattaya. The fifth campus will be located on the Metaverse world under the T-Verse platform, within the Thammasat Metaverse Campus, it will respond to the questions in 4 areas:

  1. Immersive Learning Classrooms that will uplifft the class experience in a new way.

“We have seen limitations from the lack of interaction that occurs in online learning or even the traditional on-site learning that has some limitations. For example in the field of medicine, the number of headmasters who made such a huge contribution to education dropped dramatically causing an obstacle to teaching. However, Metaverse will bring education into the virtual world, enable practicing with mockups, learn distinct skills other than reading from a book, or even study in the field of social sciences and humanities, we can go in and conduct the Social Experiment without affecting other people,” Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surat said.

  1. VR Museum of History, Culture and Democracy Thammasat also focuses on teach and learning beyond classroom. It will initiate a space for history, culture and democracy learning that Thammasat University has had for over a long period of time, allowing everyone to go back in time to understand history rather than just memorizing it and understand various contexts from experiences received on Virtual Reality Technology or VR.
  2. Next Generation Omnichannel Marketplace from Thammasat’s work that has supported and has developed projects for various community products for many years. Thammasat University will take these businesses forward by adding selling channels in the virtual world seamlessly. Community products such as sarongs may be sold as digital assets (NFTs) to be worn as a user’s avatar while the actual product can be delivered to the buyer’s home, for example.
  3. 88 Sandbox Spaces is an extension of 88 Sandbox, an incubation project for startups to become the country’s Next Unicorn. Within the Thammasat Metaverse Campus, participants will be able to interact with mentors, ventures capitalist and between startups themselves. There will be space for pitching, meetings, and other joint events between startups and mentors.

Mr. Natthaset Traithipcharoenchai, Chief Executive Officer of Brandverse Co., Ltd. said that Metaverse is not just a trend but arising new business opportunities. Many countries including many large companies around the world are jumping to compete for space and participate in this industry. It is a good opportunity for Thailand to collaboratively strive forward through the cooperation of the visionary education sector, as well as the government sector such as the Department of International Trade Promotion or the National Innovation Agency (NIA) who came to support and drive Thai entrepreneurs to grow.

As for the T-Verse platform, it will be Thailand’s first metaverse system that is open to everyone to use and design the metaverse that they want to be and at the same time, users can also jump between different metaverses. The T-Verse consists of 13 rings with 985 stars in total, and the advantage is that all data is stored under the metaworld own version. People who come to live in the T-Verse world will be able to interact with others, shop, study, or even come to work.

“In the first phase, we have invited brands and agencies to become our partners. Currently, we are in Phase 2 which is the launch of the T-Verse world. In the second quarter of this year, we will enter Phase 3, T-Verse Coins and Foundation issuance, and Phase 4 in the fourth quarter, we intend to enter the international market, connecting with foreign countries by believing that the power of everyone who jointly came to develop this time will be the heart of enhancing stable competitiveness and bring the country’s economy into a new digital world together,” said Mr. Nuttaset.
