Atty. Paisalin P. D. Tago, President of the Mindanao State University (MSU) System, sponsored the “Pagana Meranaw” event, which took place on the second day of the Asia-Pacific Academic Partnership (ASPAP) 2025. This event was designed to celebrate and promote the cultural heritage of the region.

Event Venue and Atmosphere

The venue for the event was located at MSU-IIT, where the atmosphere was curated to reflect traditional customs. It featured woven mats and ceremonial dining setups, including dulang (a traditional dining table) and tabak (a traditional serving method). Communities from the thirteen municipalities of Lanao del Sur prepared authentic Meranaw cuisine, providing attendees with an immersive cultural experience. Performances by MSU-IIT’s Kalimulan and IPAG groups showcased Mindanao’s ethnic dance traditions, contributing to the cultural narrative of the event.

Leadership Engagement and Cultural Significance

During the event, President Tago, accompanied by his wife and team members, underscored the significance of leadership engagement with the community. “Pagana Meranaw” not only served as a focal point for ASPAP 2025 but also represented a notable occasion for MSU-IIT. Chancellor Alizedney remarked that it marked President Tago’s inaugural visit to the campus. The event provided a platform for celebrating and sharing Meranaw culture, highlighting President Tago’s dedication to fostering cultural exchange and academic networking.
