Celebrating 80 Years of Education and the Launch of the 2025-2026 Academic Year at HCMUTE

On September 5, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology and Education (HCMUTE) held an online celebration to mark the 80th anniversary of the Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the start of the 2025-2026 academic year. This event, conducted under the guidance of the Ministry, highlighted the historical significance of education in Vietnam and the commitment to advancing the nation’s educational framework.
Ceremony Overview
The ceremony took place at the National Convention Center in Hanoi, with live broadcasting on VTV1. Notably, this event featured a synchronized flag salute and the singing of the National Anthem by educational institutions across the country for the first time, engaging approximately 1.7 million teachers and nearly 30 million students.
Minister’s Address
Minister of Education and Training, Nguyen Kim Son, delivered remarks that celebrated the educational sector’s 80-year history while also addressing the upcoming academic year. Representatives from various educational institutions contributed their insights during the event. Additionally, To Lam, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, conferred the highest honors from the Party and State to MOET and provided the keynote address to mark the commencement of the academic year.
New Academic Year Initiatives
The new academic year signals a significant transition with the implementation of a two-tier management system for preschools, primary, and lower secondary education, which will introduce direct oversight at the commune level. The education sector is set to further advance the 2018 General Education Program, enhance full-day schooling, foster digital transformation, improve digital literacy, integrate artificial intelligence (AI), promote STEM education, and involve artisans, artists, and athletes in educational initiatives.
HCMUTE’s Commitment
In welcoming the new cohort of students for 2025, HCMUTE emphasized the theme of “Smart Governance – Empowering HCMUTE Brand.” The university plans to utilize its expertise in technical and technological education to accelerate digital transformation, strengthen partnerships with businesses and communities, and enhance the quality of its training and research endeavors. HCMUTE aims to leverage the collective dedication of its staff and students to capitalize on opportunities in Vietnam’s higher education landscape.
