Thammasat & NRCT Launch “THRU” Training Program

THRU Training Connects Researchers, End-Users to Drive Innovation
The project for the development of a curriculum to enhance capabilities and ethics in research within the fields of Humanities and Social Sciences, supported by the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), has organized a pilot training program for enhancing the competencies of personnel in these fields to advance research for practical application (THRU). More than 50 personnel from across the country participated in the training held at the Grand Richmond Hotel in Nonthaburi Province.
Associate Professor Dr. Sunida Aroonpipat from the Faculty of Political Science, Thammasat University, the project leader, emphasized the importance of developing research that can be applied effectively, particularly in the fields of humanities and social sciences. She stated, “The THRU training program is a pilot activity that incorporates content aimed at enhancing personnel’s ability to build upon preliminary research and develop it into research that can be utilized in various dimensions, such as policy, community, and public interests. It also fosters the development of attitudes focused on ethics, knowledge, and essential skills comprehensively. Additionally, there is a training format that supports the creation of a network among master researchers, researchers ready to extend their work, and beneficiaries, enabling the effective application of research outcomes.”
The THRU training program consists of 5 learning modules and a 3-level coaching system. Throughout the 3 days of the On-Site training, participants will be cultivated in knowledge and skills in various areas through workshops and coaching.
Professor Emeritus Dr. Anake Laothamatas, former Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, graciously served as the speaker for the first topic, “Module 1: Global and Local Perspective,” which focuses on the concept of developing research from both global and local perspectives.
Furthermore, there is training on the application of interdisciplinary approaches to promote collaboration across various fields and enhance problem-solving capabilities, research methodologies, and practical applications. This includes the pursuit of tools for strategic forecasting and evaluation methods, concluding with training on research presentation skills to ensure effective communication and the eventual practical utilization of research outcomes. Throughout the THRU training course, there is a mechanism for dialogue among master-level researchers, researchers ready to build upon their work, and end-users, aimed at creating a network of discussions that lead to the advancement of research, development, and the application of research outcomes.
