Nanjing University Medical School’s Faculty and Students Engage in Academic Exchange in Singapore

A delegation from Nanjing University Medical School visited Singapore from February 18 to 22 for academic exchanges aimed at strengthening international collaboration in medical education. The visit was led by Vice Deans Wang Hongwei and Wu Jinhui and was part of the university’s “Forging Ahead Initiative.” This initiative is supported by the National University of Singapore-Nanjing University Medical Innovation Research Platform and funded by the Nanjing University International Collaboration Initiative Seed Fund.
Participation in CRSingapore 2025
During the visit, the delegation attended the international conference CRSingapore 2025, which was co-hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS). The delegation also toured Duke-NUS Medical School, where they were introduced to various teaching methodologies, particularly the “Team-Based Learning (TBL)” courses. Additionally, they explored advanced facilities such as the Simulation Medical Education Center and the 3D Printing Center.
Academic Workshop and Discussions
A workshop took place between Nanjing University Medical School and NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, where academic reports were presented on topics including cancer treatment and biomedical engineering. The participants engaged in discussions that fostered academic dialogue between both institutions.
Exploration of Joint Research Opportunities
The Vice Deans visited several departments at NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Duke-NUS Medical School, and the Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine at Nanyang Technological University. Discussions focused on opportunities for joint research, dual-mentor education systems, and student exchange programs. Preliminary agreements on collaboration were established, laying the foundation for future partnerships.
Future Prospects of Collaboration
This initiative demonstrates Nanjing University Medical School’s objective to cultivate collaborations with prominent institutions in Singapore. The visit facilitated high-level academic exchange and marked progress in institutionalized international cooperation. Looking forward, Nanjing University and its Singaporean counterparts intend to integrate their resources and enhance cooperation in research, faculty exchanges, and curriculum development, contributing to the advancement of medical education and the broader Healthy China Initiative.
