IPB University Graduate School’s Socialization of Research Seminar Regulations for Students
IPB University’s Graduate School (SPs) recently held an event to socialize research seminar regulations for students as part of preparations for the 2024/2025 academic year. This two-day session, which took place on December 3 and 4, is a requirement for doctoral and master’s program students who intend to register for their research result seminars.
Event Overview
The in-person event brought together 1,899 active students from various doctoral and master’s programs, organized into 15 groups. A total of 57 seminar lecturers participated as presenters during the socialization.
Compulsory Attendance
According to Prof. Yusli Wardiatno, the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, and Alumni at SPs IPB University, attendance at this socialization event is compulsory for all active students to ensure they understand the necessary provisions prior to their seminar presentations. He indicated that SPs plans to conduct this socialization four times a year to prepare students to present their research findings effectively, both orally and in writing.
Purpose of the Seminars
The seminars provide a platform for students to receive feedback from academic peers, which may enhance the quality of their thesis and dissertation work before the final examination.
Scientific Domains Covered
The seminar presentations will cover five scientific domains, including plant and crop sciences; animal and health sciences; engineering and information technology; social sciences and humanities; and economics, management, business, and policy.
Evaluation Criteria
Additionally, Nur Sulianti Suci Pertiwi, the Chief of the Subdivision of Education and Student Affairs at SPs, described the criteria that will be used for evaluating the seminars. The evaluation process will assess both the quality of the seminar papers, including adherence to writing formats, and the students’ performance during their presentations, particularly their ability to effectively respond to questions from seminar participants.
Written Seminar Paper Standards
The written seminar paper is expected to provide a comprehensive overview of the student’s thesis or dissertation, following the standards outlined in the “Guidelines for Writing Scientific Work (PPKI)” published by IPB University.
