Royal Society Awards Fellowship to Five Distinguished Academics

Five academics from University of Auckland have been elected as Ngā Ahurei Fellows of the Royal Society Te Apārangi, recognising their outstanding contributions to research and scholarship.
The newly elected fellows are Andy Philpott, Yvonne Underhill-Sem, Craig Elliffe, Udaya Madawala, and Aiguo Patrick Hu. Their inclusion forms part of a broader cohort of 21 new fellows elected to the Academy.
Fellowship in the Royal Society Te Apārangi is one of New Zealand’s highest academic honours, awarded to researchers, scholars, and innovators who have demonstrated excellence across science, technology, and the humanities.
The recognition highlights the University of Auckland’s strong contribution to advancing knowledge and innovation, while celebrating the achievements of its academics on a national stage.
