New Leadership: Serge da Motta Veiga Named Dean of Faculty of Business and Economics

University of Melbourne has appointed Serge da Motta Veiga as the new Dean of its Faculty of Business and Economics (FBE), succeeding Paul Kofman, who steps down after 14 years of leadership.
Professor da Motta Veiga joins from NEOMA Business School, where he served as Associate Dean for Faculty and Research. His appointment follows an extensive global search, reflecting the University’s commitment to attracting world-class academic leadership. With a career spanning the United States, France, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom, he brings a strong international perspective that is expected to strengthen FBE’s global presence, particularly in the Asia-Pacific region.
His academic journey began after experience in banking and consulting, with research focusing on career and talent management. He has published widely in leading journals and his work has been featured in prominent global media.
Jane Gunn welcomed the appointment, highlighting his leadership in research, teaching, and innovation. Professor da Motta Veiga expressed enthusiasm about leading the faculty, emphasizing collaboration, global engagement, and strengthening the faculty’s impact on business and society. He will officially commence his role in June.
