HUST Organizes 2025 Global Alumni Association Presidents’ Conference

On November 14, Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST) convened the 2025 Global Alumni Association Presidents’ Conference. The event brought together presidents and secretaries from regional and industry alumni associations around the world, with oversight provided by Zhang Tao, vice chair of the university committee.
Advancements in Global Engagement
During the conference, Liu Bo, chair of the university committee, highlighted the institution’s advancements over the past year in broadening the alumni network and enhancing global engagement. Liu emphasized the university’s ongoing commitment to incorporating alumni initiatives within a comprehensive development strategy designed to empower alumni and strengthen global connections.
Alumni Partner Program Initiatives
Dai Zejian, director of the Office of Alumni Affairs, delivered a work report outlining two major initiatives, one of which includes the alumni partner program. This initiative includes the introduction of the “1037” cultural and sports brand matrix and city-industry alumni forums. Dai also proposed five principal action plans aimed at improving alumni contributions in several areas, such as student development, innovative research, talent cultivation, and the implementation of smart campus facilities.
Engagement Discussions
Representatives from various alumni associations, including those from Beijing, Wuhan, Zhejiang, and the United Kingdom, participated in discussions regarding effective alumni engagement practices.
2025 Global Alumni Competition Results
Additionally, the conference revealed the winners of the 2025 Global Alumni Innovation & Entrepreneurship Competition in both growth and startup categories. Awards were presented by Liu Bo and Yan Zhongxing, Party secretary of Wuhan’s Hongshan district.
Concluding Roundtable Forums
The event concluded with three roundtable forums that facilitated discussions among over 20 alumni leaders and university officials on vital topics such as talent cultivation, admissions, international collaboration, and technological innovation. These discussions highlighted the pivotal role alumni have in furthering HUST’s global mission.
