FEU Dominates UAAP Season 88 Women’s Athletics Championship and Secures 2nd Place in Men’s Division

Far Eastern University (FEU) achieved its 26th title at the UAAP Collegiate Women’s Athletics Championship on November 12, 2025, held at the New Clark City Athletics Stadium. The Lady Tamaraws demonstrated a strong performance throughout the three-day competition, finishing with a total of 373.5 points, significantly ahead of their rivals.

Championship Journey

After initially trailing behind the University of Santo Tomas on the first day, FEU rebounded, showcasing their strength in subsequent events to secure the championship. Head coach Ross Hamero reaffirmed the university’s commitment to maintaining its tradition of excellence in women’s athletics.

Individual Achievements

In addition to the team victory, individual athletes from FEU received recognition, with Edna Magtubo being named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for her outstanding achievements that included gold medals in the 5,000 meters and 10,000 meters, as well as a silver medal in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. Her notable performances contributed to her designation as this season’s top athlete.

Magtubo attributed her athletic success to extensive preparation and the guidance of her coaching staff. Rookie athlete Jecel Vivas also made significant contributions by winning gold in both hurdle events, reinforcing FEU’s dominance in the competition.

Team Performance

The team’s performance included multiple gold medal wins by Rica Mae Balderama in the long jump, along with several other athletes who contributed crucial points across various events.

Men’s Division Results

In the men’s division, the FEU Men’s Track and Field team secured second place for the second consecutive year, accumulating a total of 272.25 points. Despite their efforts, they were unable to break an eight-year title drought, with National University reclaiming the championship and University of the Philippines finishing in third place.
