Community and Cultural Exchange Activities for New Students at Mae Fah Luang University

Mae Fah Luang University organized community and cultural exchange activities for new international students from August 29 to September 12, 2025. These events were coordinated by the university’s Global Relations Division in partnership with the International Student Club, aiming to facilitate the integration of new full-time and exchange students at the onset of the academic year.

The activities were designed to help students adjust to both university life and the local surroundings of Chiang Rai. The program addressed challenges such as homesickness and culture shock, providing an opportunity for cultural exchange. Senior international students and Thai volunteers participated to promote collaboration and enhance essential skills for future careers.

Activities Included in the Program

The following activities were part of the program:

French Dessert Workshop

In collaboration with the French – Upper Mekong Sub-region Academic Cooperation Centre, the workshop offered students hands-on experience with French culinary traditions.

Drip Coffee Workshop

Organized in association with the Tea and Coffee Institute, this workshop taught students how to brew drip coffee using locally sourced beans from Chiang Rai, known for its tea and coffee production.

Canvas Bag Painting Workshop

Co-hosted by the Institute for Mekong Basin Civilization, Art, and Culture, this activity enabled students to design and paint bags with traditional Lanna motifs.

Chiang Rai Discovery Tour

This one-day tour allowed students to visit significant landmarks in Chiang Rai, including the Black House Museum, Blue Temple, White Temple, Singha Park, and Central Plaza Chiang Rai, offering insights into the region’s cultural heritage and natural beauty.

Play for Rights and Sustainability Activity

Co-hosted by the MFU Human Rights Club and Mae Fah Luang University Model United Nations (MFUMUN), this event introduced students to Model United Nations concepts and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through interactive experiences.

These initiatives effectively introduced new international students to the university and local culture, fostering a welcoming environment. By encouraging cultural exchange and collaboration, the program laid a foundation for students’ academic and personal growth during their transition into university life.
