UNSRI Working Meeting: Strengthening Modern Governance and Enhancing Global Reputation

Sriwijaya University (UNSRI) recently held its inaugural working meeting as a Legal Entity Higher Education Institution (PTN-BH), aimed at enhancing modern governance, internationalization, and educational quality. The meeting took place from September 3 to 6, 2025, at the Golden Tulip Springhill Hotel in Bandar Lampung, with participation from 112 stakeholders, including university leadership and administrative officials.

Chairman’s Address

Dr. Didi Jaya Santri, M.Sc., chaired the meeting and underscored the significance of this gathering as the first strategic planning opportunity for UNSRI following its designation as a PTN-BH. He highlighted the necessity for the institution to strengthen governance structures, enhance the quality of education, expand international partnerships, and promote innovation and welfare among the academic community. This new status provides UNSRI with increased autonomy in areas such as educational administration, community engagement, research, and resource management.

Strategic Goals for 2026

The primary goal of the meeting was to develop a work program for 2026 that aligns with six strategic targets identified by UNSRI, which include the integration of plans from various university divisions and the establishment of effective governance measures. During the opening address, UNSRI’s Rector, Prof. Dr. Taufiq Marwa, S.E., M.Sc., emphasized the essential roles played by the Trustees’ Council and the University Academic Senate in shaping the university’s work program.

Rector’s Expectations

Rector Marwa noted that the results of the working meeting would contribute to the formulation of an Annual Work Plan and Budget (RKAT). He urged all faculties and administrative units to prepare comprehensive programs that align with the directives from the Trustees’ Council and the Academic Senate. Each faculty was tasked with revising its programs for discussion prior to finalizing them by September 5, 2025.

Future Prospects

The Chancellor expressed optimism that the newly structured organization at UNSRI would clarify roles, thereby improving evaluation processes and accountability across departments. He reiterated the expectation that this meeting would lead to the development of effective work programs, emphasizing a commitment to continuous enhancement of institutional practices.
