Public Relations at Sriwijaya University Enhances Quality of Public Information Services in the PTN-BH Era

Universitas Sriwijaya recently organized a Technical Guidance (BIMTEK) seminar aimed at bolstering the role of public relations and improving information services in light of the transition to State Legal Agency status (PTN-BH). The event, held on August 7, 2025, in the Djuaini Mukti Room at the UPT Unsri Language Palembang Campus, was led by Prof. Dr. Eng. Ir. H. Joni Arliansyah, MT, the Deputy Rector IV for Planning and Cooperation.
Seminar Attendance and Importance
Approximately 60 participants attended the seminar, including public relations managers from various faculties, units, institutions, UPTs, and students. These attendees play pivotal roles in the university’s information management system. In his opening remarks, Joni stressed the importance of public relations and the Information and Documentation Management (PPID) officers in fostering trust between the university and the public. He indicated that these roles require individuals who possess strong competencies and a thorough understanding of public information regulations.
Goals and Expectations from the Event
Joni expressed hope that the BIMTEK would be a valuable opportunity for sharing best practices and insights while enhancing collaboration among various departments. He encouraged attendees to utilize the knowledge and skills acquired during the seminar to improve the university’s reputation and operational efficiency.

Dedi Supriadi, the Head of the Bureau of Planning and Public Relations, emphasized the workshop’s aim to enhance the capabilities and competencies of public relations managers and PPID officials. He noted that providing excellent, transparent, and accountable information services is crucial for shaping public perceptions of the university, especially during periods of institutional change.
Expert Contributions
The seminar featured two expert speakers specializing in public communication and institutional branding. Fardila Astari from Perhumas shared strategies for public communication and reputation management, while Siti Azizah from the Central Information Commission discussed the role of PPID in ensuring transparent information dissemination and addressing information disputes.
