IPB President Participates in “Path to Equality” Videography Competition Announcement

The Instituto Politécnico de Betano (IPB) recently participated in an event marking the announcement of results for the “Path to Equality” videography competition. This event was organized by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Culture (MESSK) in collaboration with the Secretary of State for Equality (SEI) and took place at the Fundasaun Oriente auditorium in Dili on June 30, 2025.
Significance of Equality and Inclusion
During the event, Secretary of State for Equality Elvina Sousa Carvalho emphasized the significance of promoting equality and inclusion in Timor-Leste. Carvalho underscored the Ministry of Higher Education’s role in advancing these objectives, stating that the promotion of equality must be an ongoing effort within the country.
Women’s Representation in Timor-Leste
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Culture, José Honório da Costa Pereira Jerónimo, addressed the focus on enhancing women’s representation in Timor-Leste, which he considered essential for political participation. He urged heightened attention to women’s involvement in both political and academic spheres to foster a balanced approach to gender equality in the nation.
Results of the Competition
The results of the “Short Film” competition were also revealed during the event. The first-place award was presented to ICFP, which received a total prize of $1,250. UNTL secured the second and third places, with respective awards of $1,000 and $750. IOB was awarded fourth place with a prize of $500.
Participation from Higher Education Institutions
The competition saw participation from various public and private higher education institutions across Timor-Leste and included contributions from Sr. Trinito Sarmento, the Director General of Planning and Finance, among other notable guests.
