Korean Language Learning Opportunities for School Students at KSI MMU Melaka

The King Sejong Institute (KSI) at Multimedia University (MMU) Melaka has initiated a Korean Beginner 1A course aimed at school students. This program involved 20 participants from SMK Krubong and SMK Bukit Rambai and was part of the KSI MMU Regular Korean Class held in May 2025. The course was delivered in a hybrid format, combining both in-person and online sessions, with classes held weekly on Thursdays. The objective of the program is to provide secondary school students with early exposure to university-level education, specifically in Korean language and culture.

Course Administration

The course was overseen by Dr. Ong Sue Lyn, Director of the Lifelong Learning Institute (LIfE), and Ms. Kim Hee Jung, Manager of KSI MMU Melaka. Ms. Tai Pei Ping served as the primary lecturer for the course. The curriculum is intended to engage younger students in global languages, encouraging them to explore potential higher education opportunities at MMU, while also promoting cultural understanding and developing basic communication skills in Korean.

Future Plans for the Program

Future initiatives for the program are planned to include intermediate and advanced levels, providing a structured pathway for learners interested in furthering their language skills. Additionally, students will have the chance to participate in KSI cultural events, aimed at enriching their educational experience and strengthening ties between the university and the local community.
