“HYU ERICA Center Successfully Hosts 13th SW Startup Ideathon 2025: A Platform for Innovative Tech Solutions”

The ERICA Center for Software Oriented Society at Hanyang University hosted the 13th SW Startup Ideathon 2025 from March 29 to 30 at the ERICA support center. This two-day event featured overnight mentoring sessions aimed at preparing young entrepreneurs for challenges associated with the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Innovative Business Ideas

The ideathon invited current students from Hanyang University ERICA to present innovative business ideas utilizing software technologies. Participants engaged in a variety of activities, including networking opportunities, team-building exercises, special lectures, brainstorming sessions, and structured mentorship, which was organized into three stages to aid teams in refining their business plans and preparing for presentations.

Finalist Teams and Awards

Six finalist teams were selected based on criteria such as originality, technical feasibility, and practical implementation of their business plans. Team Shootit received the grand prize for their creation of an AI-driven short-form video platform. Team Leaflet secured second place for their video marketing automation service, while Team Tyrano was awarded third place for developing an environmental action app.

Honorable Mentions

In addition, three teams received Honorable Mentions for their projects: Team Livia created an AI-based content filtering system for children’s safety; Team AEGIS proposed a drone battery safety control system; and Team Cosmos developed a blockchain solution for managing insurance claims and medical data.

Scott Uk-Jin Lee, Vice President of the ERICA Center, noted the high level of creativity and professionalism displayed by participants in their business model presentations. He expressed aspirations for the ideathon to continue functioning as a valuable platform for fostering startup capabilities in software and problem-solving.
