UNAIR Information Systems Journal Ranked Q3 in Global SJR Rankings

The Journal of Information Systems Engineering and Business Intelligence (JISEBI) at Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has been recognized in the SCImago Journal Rank (SJR) with a Q3 ranking. This journal is associated with the undergraduate Information Systems program within the university’s Faculty of Science and Technology (FST).

Significance of SJR Ranking

According to Dr. Indra Kharisma Raharjana, S.Kom., M.T., the Editor-in-Chief of JISEBI, this marks the first time the journal has received an official SJR classification since its inclusion in the Scopus index in 2023. The SJR rankings are updated annually, and the 2024 list was published on April 7, 2025. JISEBI’s placement in the Q3 category signifies an important milestone for the publication.

Top Ranking Among Indonesian Journals

Within the “Information Systems” subject category, JISEBI achieved the highest score among Indonesian journals, ranking first out of nine entries in that field. This accomplishment highlights JISEBI as a leading publication in Information Systems in Indonesia.

Evaluation Process of SJR Rankings

The SJR ranking process evaluates journals based on weighted citations, taking into account both the frequency and the prestige of the journals that cite them. Dr. Raharjana emphasized the importance of authors promoting their published work, noting that increased visibility is crucial for enhancing the journal’s academic impact.

Commitment to Quality

JISEBI is committed to maintaining high standards in both syntactic and semantic quality. The editorial team ensures a rigorous review process that assesses the mechanics of writing alongside the scientific contributions of submitted manuscripts. The collaborative effort of authors, peer reviewers, and the editorial staff is essential for the journal’s ongoing development.

Future Aspirations

Looking forward, Dr. Raharjana aims for JISEBI to achieve higher rankings, such as Q2 or even Q1, in future assessments. He believes that reaching these higher classifications will enhance the reputation of the Information Systems program, the Faculty of Science and Technology, and Universitas Airlangga on both national and international platforms. The goal for JISEBI is to establish itself as a significant venue for researchers, particularly those from UNAIR, to make impactful contributions to society through rigorous and ethical scholarship.
