Chula Fine and Applied Arts Collaborates with Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra for Creative Performance

Chulalongkorn University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts recently collaborated with the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra (RBSO) for a series of performances in Russia. These concerts were held in St. Petersburg and Moscow from March 30 to April 6, 2025.

Concert Program Highlights

The program highlighted two compositions by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya: “Le Mariage de Minuit – Fantaisie pour piano et orchestra” and the “Concerto for Violin and Orchestra, NEFRERETTA.” Also featured was “Siam Soundscapes,” composed by Professor Dr. Narongrit Dhamabutra, who was named a National Artist in 2021 for his contributions to Performing Arts (Western Classical Music Composition).

Performance Locations and Dates

The performances took place at the St. Petersburg Philharmonia on April 2 and at the Zaryadye Concert Hall in Moscow on April 4. Dr. Yos Vaneesorn, a faculty member and lead clarinetist of the RBSO, was among the musicians participating in the concert. The orchestra was conducted by Dr. Vanich Potavanich, an alumnus of the Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts.

Cultural Impact

These concerts served as a platform to promote Thai musical culture on an international stage and aimed to reinforce diplomatic and cultural ties between Thailand and Russia.
