Jesselton University College Empowers Individuals Through “Second Chances and Opportunities for People to Excel” Creative Floristry Course

KOTA KINABALU, 21 January 2025 – Jesselton University College (JUC) continues its commitment to empowering individuals through skills-based education with the successful completion of a four-day Creative Floristry Course, held under the initiative “Second Chances and Opportunities for People to Excel.” This program was designed to provide current and former detainees that seeking career reinvention, with an opportunity to develop professional floristry skills and explore entrepreneurial prospects in the floral design industry.
The course offered a comprehensive, hands-on approach to floristry, blending technical expertise with artistic expression to equip participants with practical skills in floral arrangement, bouquet crafting, and event decoration. Over the four days, participants learned fundamental techniques in flower selection, color theory, arrangement styles, and sustainable floristry practices, ensuring that their designs meet industry standards.
Recognizing the growing demand for creative professions and sustainable small businesses, the program incorporated business fundamentals, teaching participants how to market their floral designs, manage client expectations, and establish their own floristry businesses. By integrating entrepreneurial components, JUC aims to equip participants with the tools to build independent careers or gain employment in the floral and event industries.
