Universitas Airlangga Wins £50,000 Grant from The British Academy to Enhance Research Management Capacity

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) has received a £50,000 grant (approximately 1 billion rupiah) from The British Academy as part of the ODA Research Management Capacity Strengthening Programme. This grant is aimed at improving the research management capabilities within the university.

Leadership and Implementation

The initiative will be led by Prof. Iman Harymawan, Ph.D., the Director of Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE), alongside Dr. Anna Brown from Durham University in the United Kingdom. The project, entitled “Enhancing Support Operations for Comprehensive and Effective Grant Management: A Strategic Approach to Strengthening Research Capacity,” is scheduled for implementation by AGE and the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) of UNAIR over a period of 24 months, from 2025 to 2027.

Centralized Platform Development

The main focus of the proposal is the development of a centralized platform designed to streamline the reporting and management of research grant funds. This approach is anticipated to improve the efficiency, transparency, and accountability of UNAIR’s grant management systems.

Supporting Collaborations

The initiative receives support from the UK’s International Science Partnerships Fund, which is overseen by the Department of Science, Innovation, and Technology. This program is aimed at fostering collaboration between research institutions in the UK and developing nations, including Indonesia, by enhancing institutional research management systems and promoting partnerships in research administration, finance, and legal sectors.

Aspiring for Sustainability

Through this grant, Universitas Airlangga aims to establish a more resilient and sustainable research environment, paving the way for strengthened global collaborations and reinforcing its position in the Indonesian research landscape.
