‘THAMC’ to Provide Medical Alternatives with TU Medical Team

THAMC (Thammasat Advanced Medical Center) held a Soft Opening ceremony to celebrate the 90th anniversary of Thammasat University. The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Chuan Leekpai, former Prime Minister and former President of the National Assembly, as the chairman of the opening ceremony. Prof. Dr. Suraphol Nitikraipot, Chairman of the University Council, also participated in the opening ceremony on Thursday, June 27th, 2024, at the Thammasat Advanced Medical Center building, Thammasat University Hospital.

Mr. Chuan Leekpai, former Prime Minister and former President of the National Assembly, expressed his honor as a chairman of the ceremony for the opening of the “THAMC Building” on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of the Thammasat University. He sees the center as a premium healthcare facility and another option for patients to receive treatment by specialized medical professors. Patients will have a good experience receiving services.

Assoc. Prof. Chittinad Havanond, M.D., Director of Thammasat Advanced Medical Center (THAMC) is a unit under the auspices of Thammasat University Hospital, a 10-story building with a total area of 53,965 square meters. It is serviced by medical professors, dentists, specialists, and professional teams to provide high-quality nursing care, focusing on patient-centered care, supporting digital services, and preparing various service systems such as outpatient services, inpatient services, and operating room services to accommodate patients requiring examination and treatment by medical professors.

“Within the center, there are comprehensive facilities provided. The building is designed and constructed as an energy-efficient building at the Platinum level in the category of new construction buildings, according to the criteria for assessing energy and environmental sustainability, to reduce environmental impact, pollution, energy consumption, water usage, and to create quality spaces. It is an alternative for receiving medical treatment with a focus on premium services,” Dr. Chittinad stated.

Prof. Dr. Suraphol Nitikraipot, Chairman of the University Council, mentioned that as Thammasat University Hospital commemorates its 36th anniversary along with Thammasat University celebrating its 90th anniversary, the hospital’s executive committee saw the necessity to alleviate the issue of inadequate service area and elevate healthcare services towards a university-level hospital of high regional standards. The aim is to establish an Excellence Center to enhance patient-centered care, increase bed capacity by approximately 150, provide specialized group disease care, promote health, as well as engage in research, innovation, and academic support activities.

            “Thammasat University has a policy to expand the services of the hospital for patients who seek convenience and efficiency in receiving medical care. THAMC can therefore provide an alternative for those seeking premium services with modern tools and facilities for medical professionals to fully utilize their capabilities in providing healthcare. The revenue from the center will support Thammasat University Hospital to serve the public, low-income patients, as well as those requiring treatment for complex diseases and advanced technology utilization,” Prof. Dr. Suraphol mentioned.

In addition, Asst. Prof. Dr. Jatuwat Varodompun, an expert in green building systems LEED AP and TREES, has also awarded the Platinum green building certificate to THAMC with Assoc. Prof. Dilok Piyayotai, M.D., Director of Thammasat University Hospital, and Assoc. Prof. Pharuhat Tor-Udom, M.D., former director of Thammasat University Hospital, who are supporters and policy makers for the Platinum green building. THAMC is the first hospital in Thailand to be certified as a Platinum green building.

         Thammasat Advanced Medical Center provides comprehensive medical services with premium quality, aiming to elevate the potential of healthcare services for the public in Bangkok, suburban areas, and central region. It commenced first phase services on June 17th, 2024, covering outpatient services such as bone and joint clinic, dermatology clinic, ENT clinic, geriatric clinic, cardiology clinic, surgery clinic, psychiatry clinic, pediatric clinic, maternity clinic, endoscopy center, radiology center, and inpatient services, all provided in accordance with professional standards 24 hours a day, with private single rooms for patient comfort.
