Faculty of Computing’s Global Outreach Program: Exploring South Korea in 2024
From August 30 to September 6, 2024, a delegation comprising 18 students and three staff members from the Faculty of Computing at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) engaged in the Global Outreach Program (GOP) in South Korea. This initiative was executed in partnership with Dongguk University’s WISE Campus located in Gyeongju. The week-long program incorporated elements of cultural exploration, academic collaboration, and professional development, with the objective of enhancing cross-cultural understanding and fostering potential academic partnerships.
Cross-Cultural Engagement
Participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in South Korea’s cultural heritage while also showcasing aspects of Malaysian culture. The program prioritized the establishment of international relationships and facilitated academic discussions aimed at exploring future collaborative research opportunities between UTM and Dongguk University.
Cultural Exchange Activities
A significant feature of the program included cultural exchange activities between students from both institutions. Participants shared their respective cultural traditions, with Malaysian students displaying traditional attire, food, and games, while their Korean counterparts offered insights into Korean cultural practices. The itinerary featured visits to various historical and contemporary sites in South Korea. Additionally, students visited the Samsung Innovation Museum to observe advancements in technology firsthand.
