Sriwijaya University recently hosted auditions for Indonesian Idol XIV as part of a national roadshow aimed at showcasing student talent. The auditions took place on July 11, 2025, in the Senate Room of the university’s Rectorate at the Indralaya Campus. This event offered students an opportunity to demonstrate their singing abilities and explore potential careers within Indonesia’s music industry.

Event Opening and Remarks

The opening of the event was marked by remarks from Prof. Dr. Dr. Radiyati Umi Partan, SpPD-KR, M.Kes, the Deputy Rector III for Student Affairs and Alumni. She acknowledged the Indonesian Idol team’s choice of Unsri as an audition venue and articulated the university’s commitment to nurturing both academic and artistic talents. Prof. Partan noted the presence of various student activity units, including singing and dance groups, which contribute to talent development beyond traditional academic settings. She encouraged participants to represent the university with pride during the selection process.

Insights from the Executive Producer

Aditya Amarullah, Senior Executive Producer of Indonesian Idol, also addressed the attendees, expressing appreciation for the university’s hospitality. He indicated that Palembang was the second stop in a series of thirteen auditions scheduled across the country. Amarullah emphasized the show’s objective of discovering and supporting local talent, urging students to take pride in their university’s role in hosting the auditions.

Selection Process

He provided insights into the selection process, which comprises multiple phases for identifying and assessing potential contestants. The auditions at Sriwijaya University featured two judges from the Indonesian Idol team, one of whom was Amarullah himself.

The event generated significant interest among the academic community, especially among music-interested students. One participant, Neo Salsabila from the Faculty of Teaching and Education, articulated feelings of both excitement and nervousness as she prepared for her audition.
