USeP Obrero Celebrates 46th Commencement Exercises Honoring 1,421 Graduates at the University of Southeastern Philippines

The University of Southeastern Philippines (USeP) at the Obrero Campus held its 46th Commencement Exercises on June 27, 2025, honoring a total of 1,421 graduates. The event took place at the University Gymnasium and Cultural Center and was organized into two sessions: a morning ceremony for graduate students and an afternoon session for undergraduates.
Commencement Address by USeP President
During the ceremonies, USeP President Dr. Bonifacio G. Gabales, Jr. addressed the graduates, commending their perseverance and dedication in overcoming academic challenges. He emphasized that graduation signifies not only an educational achievement but also a responsibility to contribute positively to society.
Dr. Gabales remarked on the purpose of a USeP degree, stating that graduates should aim to “make a life that gives, contributes, and endures.” He encouraged the graduates to focus on equitable progress and empowerment rather than solely personal ambitions.
University Achievements Highlighted
The university highlighted its accomplishments during the event, including favorable outcomes in recent licensure examinations and advancements in both national and international rankings, underscoring USeP’s expanding role as a regional institution with national and global significance.
Morning Session: Graduate Students
In the morning session, 166 graduate students received their degrees, with Dr. Anthony M. Penaso, President of Bohol Island State University, serving as the commencement speaker. He shared insights from his own educational journey at USeP, encouraging graduates to reject mediocrity while valuing their roots and contributing to the university’s legacy.
Afternoon Session: Undergraduate Students
The afternoon session recognized 1,255 undergraduate students from seven colleges. Dr. Maricar R. Casquejo represented Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), conveying messages about the importance of excellence, inclusivity, and public service in the graduates’ future pursuits.
Valedictorian Speech
Valedictorian Clark Kent A. Angeles, who graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Secondary Education, majoring in Science, addressed his peers, reflecting on shared challenges and emphasizing the significance of mutual support and gratitude as they move forward.
Conclusion of the Ceremonies
The ceremonies concluded with a musical performance from the graduates and a Pledge of Loyalty led by Ms. Giana Alliona A. Caminade, reaffirming their commitment to the university, followed by an induction into the USeP alumni federation. The event ended with a collective rendition of the University Hymn, signifying the unity and pride of the graduating class.
