MBA Student Orientation 2024: Kick-start Your MBA Journey at City University of Hong Kong

The City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) conducted its MBA Student Orientation on August 31 and September 1, 2024, marking the start of the academic journey for the incoming cohort of MBA students.

Orientation Overview

The orientation was hosted on the CityUHK campus in Kowloon Tong, where MBA Director Professor Chak-fu Lam and MBA Associate Director Professor Vivian Zheng addressed the students. They introduced the MBA team and outlined the program’s objectives, available resources, and expectations to clarify the academic experience ahead.

Event Schedule

The event comprised a comprehensive two-day program hosted at the Kerry Hotel in Hong Kong. The first day included ice-breaking activities and team-building exercises designed to encourage interaction among students. On the second day, participants attended workshops aimed at skill enhancement, focusing on professional networking, personal branding, and management and leadership. These sessions provided insights into navigating the Hong Kong HR landscape and understanding major regional industries.

Networking Dinner

The first day concluded with a dinner banquet intended to facilitate networking between students, industry professionals, and alumni. Dean of the College of Business, Professor Kalok Chan, delivered welcome remarks during the dinner, highlighting the flexibility of the CityUHK MBA Program and encouraging students to maximize their learning experience. Furthermore, Professor Chak-fu Lam recognized outstanding students by presenting the Admission Interview Rationale and Prize Awards.

Inspiring Alumni

During the dinner, two alumni, Ms. Danielle Ruan and Mr. Jack Si, shared their experiences in the MBA program, aiming to inspire attendees to approach their studies with enthusiasm and openness.

Career-Oriented Workshops

The second day continued with career-oriented workshops led by industry experts. Overall, the orientation provided a solid foundation for the new MBA students as they begin their studies.
